University no detriment policy

I am a mature student, currently studying at Cardiff Met. Many students are suffering, unable to see their families due to the current lockdown restrictions.

Here is a change.org petition in support of a no detriment policy:

Note. We would still have to resit exams if we failed, but our marks would not be capped at a pass grade.

There is a similar campaign nationwide. I have personally struggled throughout my course however, and found the university to be pretty poor in supporting students, long before the crisis.

Many thanks for any support in advance!

You having a laugh? We wont get one this year. If they give us a safety net then they're admitting that the courses were less than what we could usually expect. They do that and students might have a genuine shot at getting reduced fees.

We've managed to get our uni to the point where they're trying to put something in place on the grounds that with the students being sent home early for Christmas, not allowed back, the constant timetable changes and the like - we've had no/minimal access to things like the library in order to complete assignments and I think there's an increasing acceptance that the online offering (although my department have generally been really good - apart from the one staff member who's just chucked on old lectures where you can't hear the students in the room answering questions which are never expanded upon) is not quite level with previous years.

The one assignment we've had back so far has shown a fall off in marks across the whole cohort compared to previous years so it IS having an impact.
