Applying for more than one course at same university

Is this possible/ sensible/ stupid thing to do?
My dd wants to do geography but not sure if geography degree oe human geography degree. She prefers human to physical.
She only eants a london uni ( despite me trying to persuade otherwise) so that limits choice a bit. So could/ should she apply for say human geography AND geography at says KCL as two of her choices?
Or just one course per university?

I think it would be a bit of a waste. Moving between closely related courses at a uni is often possible in the first year. Why waste a slot? Unless the entry requirements are different?

They are the same entry requirements. So could be a waste of a slot. I presume she'd get the same offer for both anyway.

Some ostensibly different courses start off the same and then specialise via options later so she might be effectively applying for exactly the same thing twice. I don't know if that pertains in this case.

She can email the admissions tutors to check.

I think other people's advice is correct but it may be worth doing if she wants to apply for totally different courses. DS did this and as he was applying for different course and the personal
Statement was geared to a particular course he approached other subjects about supplying an additional statement and they accepted so it is worth considering that if applying for different courses

Has she looked in real detail at the course details - not just the one-pager for prospective students but on pages for current student where they can are all the modules? The London colleges seem to have very flexible degrees so she may well find that there is little practical difference

I disagree. Some are more oversubscribed so if she really wants that uni it is indeed a sensible idea to apply for 2 similar courses at the same uni.
