Any ideas - especially those knowing about University Admissions - are more Unis regarding Summer exams as First Take if Autumn ones not sat?

Just that really ....DC trying to decide whether to do the October exams or not, and redo in Summer if they don't quite make the grades they want - are they really are a "free ride" that either affects nothing or gives you a higher grade... or if there is a downside.

It looks seem to be three schools of thought. Almost all unis agreed October exam is 2020 grade and can only bump it up, so not a resit - which is how it is designed but then it gets confusing...Some seem to think...

  1. Summer exam is a resit - even if you haven't sat any exams
  1. Summer exam is not seen as a resit by some unis, given this exceptional year
  1. Summer exam is not seen as a resit by some unis IF YOU HAVENT TAKEN THE OCTOBER EXAMS..... this is the cat among the pigeons! Tough to get clarity on ... and I hope there will be more before the October exams, so that students can factor this into their decision whether to retake or not

To be honest you'd need to seek advice from individual universities. Most don't care whether exams are first or second attempts at all. So those that do will be for the really competitive courses, medicine etc.

Autumn exams will be first sits. The better of August 2020 and December 2020 results will show on UCAS.

Summer exams will be resits and both the August 2020 and August 2021 grades will be declared on UCAS, whether better or worse.
