Did anyone miss a place at Uni Of Edinburgh 2020

But would have got in on CAG?

Dd2 refuses to go back to them on this now after the person on the phone was quite rude. She’s got another place and sorted accommodation etc so is happy to go there.

Just being nosy to see whether Edinburgh are coming back to people now.

There is a form on their website to complete if you want to be reconsidered:
www.ed.ac.uk/studying/undergraduate/2020/guidance-revised-grades. They should have just pointed your DD to this rather than giving her an earful.

You need to complete it by 31Aug and they will get back to you by Sep 7th at the very latest.

DD going there this year.It is a good uni don't let you DD be put off by a harassed person on the phone.

I joined a call with Edinburgh yesterday and they were saying that they weren't responding until they had received new grades via UCAS which they expected to have by Friday at the latest.

This was last Thursday quite early on that she spoke to them. They basically said ‘if you appeal your grades we may consider you’ but was blunt and quite pompous. Basically adding to the feeling of not being good enough.
School had already said she couldn’t appeal maths which was the one which was one grade lower than she needed.

Also she goes to her other one on 5th so holding to 7th isn’t going to work and 31st is tight.

In my opinion, blunt is a bit of a Scottish thing and pompous a Edinburgh thing (I am a Glaswegian!). They really should have put kinder staff on the phone lines last week particularly as it was already known that the algorithm discriminated.

They are known for not budging much on offer grades in normal years. If your DD now meets the original offer and she still wants to go then she should ask them to reconsider. I presume she hangs on to her other offer until they decide. Teaching doesn't start until the 21st at Edinburgh and lectures are online. They are still to confirm arrangements for labs, tutorials and seminars but they expect some of this to go ahead as normal with social distancing. Edinburgh is quite often an insurance uni (it was for my DD) so I imagine a fair number of people will now get their first choice.

Will see when they’ve got the new grades from ucas. The other uni was really helpful and supportive so she’s inclined to stick but it’s a slightly different course which makes me wonder about the decision

They were rude to my DD friend a few months ago when she asked if she could

My niece missed out on Edinburgh due to the A level cock up. She's going to Durham now instead. The revised grades would have got her the place at Edinburgh but she's decided that she just wants it over with now and she's sticking with her insurance. Edinburgh were not helpful on results day - she actually didn't manage to speak to anyone there at all about her place. I think given how unhelpful they were she's quite happy with her decision.

Admissions do stick to the script. Dd tried to defer her place last year, was almost in tears on the phone but no flexibility. Part of the issue is that decisions are taken within the faculties, balancing numbers between Scottish/EU, Other Uk, and overseas students. If they are saying by 7th it will be 7th. They took it to last stated day last year. Having said that , dd was still keen to go, reapplied this year and starts in a few weeks.

7th is too late for her other option as their welcome week starts then and move in the weekend before. Think she may end up sticking
