Which universities use UCAS points instead of grades? Do most in clearing - or not???

Hi .... alll offers seem to come through as grades... eg AAB etc...

But clearing has it in UCAS points? So things like music and drama all add up? But do they really? Which unis let these be used?

Most won't. The low tariff ones might. Very general rule of thumb!

You can swap the UCAS points field to grades on the search tool. Much easier!

From experience of clearing couple of years ago both Keele and Hull worked on points instead of grades and were both good for DS’s chosen subject. Didn’t end up at either since negotiated his chosen course at one of his top 3 fave uni that he thought he’d miss out on with the grades he ended up with. No idea about A level music or drama though.....think from memory there is a conversion calculator type thing available online.

No idea about A level music or drama though.

All A levels carry the same UCAS tariff points, regardless of subject. Some other qualifications, for example Grade 6 upwards Music / Drama / Dance exam grades achieved also attract a certain number of points, which can be included where the normal offer is expressed as tariff points, rather than explicit grades, although the conditions may also stipulate x points from a minimum of 2 A levels / A level equivalent. Most of the qualifications attracting tariff points are listed here:
www.ucas.com/ucas/tariff-calculator

You can see whether a university usually states requirements as grades or tariff points by looking at its requirements for 2021 entry (rather than 2020 in Clearing). e.g. Architecture at Oxford Brooke's, 136 points (3 A level equivalent, e.g. 2A*D / AAB).
