I have just started a 2yr access to health professions course, with the aim of getting onto a midwifery degree after. The thing is though; I'm not quite sure if my family is 'finished' yet and am considering a third child. So...Does anyone know what the likelihood of me getting onto a midwifery degree (i know it's exremely competitive anyway) having completed an access course, but not applting immediately. With for instance, a 1-2 yr break?

Hi milkymill

Im in a similar situation, im at the end of the two years and looking to go uni next year + im pg at the minute. I do no the competition is tough to get into midwifey, but I personally dont think you will do any harm having time out first, as once you have your full access certificate its supposed to last five years. The only downfall I would consider is that when your doing the access course they will help you put your application form together, also your tutor will give you a reference. where as waiting the year or two you probably wont receive that same help.

Hope this helps you in your situation x

Thanks Pg. I don't plan on having my family widely spaced apart so i feel that before starting a degree it will be case of 'another one now or never' for us.
