Falmouth uni or Plymouth College of Art?

Has anyone had any experience with either of these Uni's. Dd1 wants to study Fashion design. She has got an unconditional from Falmouth and USW and a conditional from Plymouth (tho we expect this to be upgraded when they see her next week). Dd1 is not interested in London at this point in her life tho may go on to do a postgraduate there after her degree, Cardiff is very low on her list as she says the distance is too far. Although they seem lovely.
Her most likely choice would be to stay local and go to Falmouth which have excellent facilities but she is considering Plymouth also. Plymouth obviously cang match Falmouth with their facilities but seem very nurturing and encouraging of students to take their own direction which appeals to my dd.
Anyone have any experiences, good or bad with either of these Uni's please? Thank you

No direct experience of either but I know two people who did art foundation courses at Falmouth before going to going to other universities to do degrees in other subjects. I also know two others who did degrees at Falmouth (not art related).

All four loved it.

Falmouth is a much lovelier town than Plymouth!

Thank you for your replies. We actually live 15 mins drive from the Penryn campus so we are spoilt by the location in many ways. Dd1 is trying to weigh up the pros and cons between attending a university with not so great facilities but in a city where she feels industry links would be stronger. Or the amazing facilities of Falmouth but away from city living. She has been a Cornish girl all her life so experiencing the city life for a bit could be advantageous. But we haven't seen anywhere with the facilities that Falmouth can offer.

I have one former student who studied Art at Falmouth and loved it. One of my DD's friends started there but then transferred for his 2nd year to a different related course in Bristol as it wasn't specialised enough.

My DDs are rural Devon girls and neither wanted a large city university at 17/18. They are coming round to the idea more in terms of work and further study, but I think going to university is such a big life step that it might not be the best time to throw this into the mix. On the other hand, she could be ready - only you/she know that.

Falmouth for sure. It’s name alone on her CV will carry her far.
I studied there (hundreds of years ago).
Plymouth is okay (I’ve taken people to the college and been to exhibitions by students there) but isn’t the same category as Falmouth.
Plus Plymouth as a city is dire.

Falmouth is miles ahead - it's pretty much the best in the field.

Hi, I don’t know about the art course, but my ds1 is in yr2 at Plymouth uni. We come from a small town & he has found Plymouth to be a great place to be. Everything is in walking distance, the city, the port, uni, sports facilities, & beautiful countryside is very close. Most towns/cities have undesirable areas but whenever we have visited him & gone out in the evening we have only found it to be somewhere I am very pleased he is at.

I think dd1's biggest hang ups about Falmouth are the industry links. She seems to feel that being in a city will provide her with more links than studying at Falmouth.

i know one person who studied at plymouth and one who studied at falmouth, i know them less well, and i think they didnt like it.

I don't know about the unis - DP went to the college of art but a while ago. Plymouth as a city isn't dire though - I moved from London and quite like Plymouth. People from (Plymouth do seem to hate it though).
