Benefits when being a student with a partner who is a carer?

Hi everyone I have just started a HND and I applied late so I am unsure of what I will be receiving in terms of benefits. I have three children one of whom is receiving DLA with my partner claiming carers allowance for this, at the moment I am on universal credit but will I still receive this or could I claim child tax credit. Does anyone know anything about this? Any reply is appreciated :)

Have you applied for student finance? I believe it’s counted as income whether you take it or not so benefits will be affected by it.

Once you are on universal credit you do not go back onto the benefits it replaced which includes tax credits.

Hi yes i have applied for it as when i phoned up universal credit they said to choose between the two and tbh UC has been annoying to say the least. And yes i understand that it has replaced but was thinking of getting off it because my DD would qualify for the severe disability premium and it says you can but it would mean my DH would have to stop getting carers allowance. Hard to find anything on the subject online and wont have the slightest idea for a few weeks due to me applying for student finance late. Just trying to figure out whether i will be worse off and by how much is all.
