I would like to haar from people who have done either the level 4 diploma or an Foundation degree in counselling - how academic were the courses and how many hours a week did it take up?

I did the one year Foundation course many years ago. It was 3 hours a week for 39 weeks. There was a long reading list sent out before the course, but the course itself was very very practical. Essentially we had 1.5 hours "taught" on a different theme each week - but lots of discussion - and then 1.5 hours practical, role playing, small group work.

As I say it was long ago but had I been planning on going forward to train as a counsellor, I would have felt that it was useful preparation.

Thank you. you decided not to continue then? I am doing volunteering and was hoping it would be useful.
