Latymer School admission

My son has got through both the Latymer School and KEGS Chelmsford school after 11 plus exams. We are planning to get our son join Latymer in the coming year (Sept 2019) session.

We are thinking of moving to Southgate area which is in catchment of Latymer school. I looked at the commuting options from Southgate to Latymer school. There is a bus that goes straight from Southgate high street to Latymer.

Just wanted to check if we can get some feedback from some parent if their children go to Latymer. And is it safe for children to travel in a bus from Southgate to Latymer and back.

Will wait for some inputs and suggestions.

Thanks.

Hi
My Dc did exactly this journey.
She says 'stay in large groups!'
It's a great school and the music is fantastic.

Sarabjeet,

First of all, my congratulation👍👍👍 You have done a brilliant work.
Southgate is a good area to live.

I do apologize for my questions below in your thread but think it is directly related to our problem arisen.

We live just 500 yards from the catchment area.

I was confused with the Latymer’s admissions rules.

If our child pass the tests successfully, the school send letter where it ask about our relocation till 11 January. The confirmation letter about results does not give a guarantee on allocation day, Isn’t it?
🤔🤔🤔

We have a house which should be sold and another one bought till 11th January.
What would be happen if we can not to sell and buy a new house?

Or if we do but a place won’t be offered?

Thanks

Hi I should have added, wrt to safety and travelling to Edmonton. Of course, with the advent of smart phones these have now made school kids a target. This is the case if you are in Hampstead or Highgate. It's just sensible to travel in groups. I wouldn't let it put me off the school and in my opinion you would be losing out by not going.

According to the school's admissions policicy, if you cannot prove that you are living in the priority area by the cut off date, your application would be considered under oversubscription criterion 6, i.e.'all other applicants'. So getting a place would depend on there being any places left to fill and if there were, where your application was ranked within that category.
