He could study Theology/Religious Studies at University. It's called different things at different universities. You don't have to be religious!

RenaissanceBunny · 26/09/2018 20:32

something like religion culture and society at University of Central Lancaster?

Stick religion into the UCAS search engine and see what comes up.

However I would ask why he wants to go to uni and what he is passionate about? If your not doing a professional course like medicine or engineering then you really need to be passionate about the subject to make the studying worthwhile.

Oratory1 · 26/09/2018 20:35

Sorry for my ignorance but what s RMPS ?

ClerkMaxwell · 26/09/2018 21:12

Do a PGDE and become a secondary RMPS teacher?

PotteringAlong · 26/09/2018 21:14

Search for theology courses; It’s definitely done at universities!

hipposeleven · 26/09/2018 22:36

What did he like about the subject if he's not religious and didn't like philosophy? If it was the social/moral stuff, would he like sociology, social policy, or maybe government/politics?

ssd · 26/09/2018 23:04

yes it was the social/moral stuff

maybe I'll get him to look at sociology (not sure what that is Blush)

individual & society little bit of ethics bit of social psychology bit of criminology & very very interesting

BWatchWatcher · 26/09/2018 23:13

Anthropology/sociology sound good here.

ssd · 26/09/2018 23:18

would social sciences be the same sort of thing to sociology?

What about philosophy? Or Politics/International Relations - both of which RMPS would be a good foundation for and which anyway are subjects that are started from scratch at Uni.

prettybird · 26/09/2018 23:40

Sorry - I mussed your obvious paragraph about him not enjoying Philosophy Blush

But the rest of my post still stands Grin

BeautyAndTheBrat · 26/09/2018 23:50

Stirling have a highly rated RE course

BackforGood · 26/09/2018 23:56

What does RMPS stand for ?

celtiethree · 27/09/2018 00:38

Religious moral and philosophical studies

BackforGood · 27/09/2018 00:40

Thank you.

prettybird · 27/09/2018 08:34

It's a specific subject in the Scottish education system.

Oratory1 · 27/09/2018 09:15

Thankyou. In that case read the content of the Theology and Religion Courses (Search which university) and look for the ones that focus on the ethics and social impact that he is interested in. There are a few around. There may not be courses specifically called RMPS but there are many that cover that content. They are actually more useful than you might think as well as they teach relevant skills and are seen ad rigorous degrees.

ssd · 27/09/2018 09:21

thanks, I'll look at those suggestions, he wants to stay in Glasgow though
