I hope this is the right place to post.

I have started my access to Higher education course and will hopefully be applying to do a nursing degree starting 2019. Anyone else in the same boat wanting to chat? Smile

@MishMashMosher I’m applying to UEA and UOS as I live between the two.

Full day of physiology classes today, think my brain may well end up fried by the end of the day.

MishMashMosher · 17/09/2018 14:39

Good luck for today. Do you have work afterwards?
I have a day off tomorrow so going to Tey and get kits of reading done. Finally finished my assignment on social media and the last of my ungraded units woooo!

That should say try and get lots of reading done!

I need a moan. Having a bit of a pity party here. As you know I'm doing my course online with basically no support from the 'college' I went in knowing this because of all the terrible reviews ect bit it was the only way I'd be able to do the course. It takes them ages to mark anything so I'm working ahead.

Anyway I got one of earlier units back and I've not passed it. I'm just feeling really sorry for myself. The feedback was that it was too brief. The assignment was to do an essay plan.

Oh well. I've given up for tonight and I'll start again tomorrow.

@Mishmash well done for finishing all the ungraded units Smile

I'm sorry to hear. Cake or Wine at least it was an ungraded assignment. They are there for practice. Could you ask for more feedback/specific feedback. Surely an essay plan is brief Confused

Good luck with your reading tomorrow.

I've had physics and Biochemistry (basically just chemistry at the mo). My head hurts. I hate physics. There is no part of it that interests me! I've ordered some a level revision books for them both. I definitely need to read up on them.

MishMashMosher · 19/09/2018 14:49

I'm going to ask for more feedback but the problem is that it takes up to a week for a reply. Confused

It wasn't even a proper plan just like a timetable of when I was going to do each part of the planning and how long it was going tk take. For example, read up on the subject, 2 days. Deciding on questions for my survey, 1 day ect. How does that need more detail? Sorry I will stop moaning now!

Oh no, physics is the worst. I could never get my head round it at school. Hopefully the revision books will help you.

How is everyone getting on? I'm almost ready to send off my ucas application. Scary! Shock

OP posts:
MishMashMosher · 13/11/2018 19:45

Anyone?

Hi, ok I sent off my UCAS application last week. I have an offer from UEA however there isn't much point me going there! Also an applicant day (including an interview) at Essex University next month.

How is everything going with you? How are you finding the work/work load?

MishMashMosher · 14/11/2018 11:10

Congrats on the offer (even if you can go) and the interview! You heard back so quickly. Did it take long for your college to attach their reference? I keep changing my personal statement.

I'm finding the course okay. Still zero support so I'm worrying every time I submit a piece of work. How are you finding yours?

OP posts:
Liesmyparentstoldme · 14/11/2018 15:50

Thanks! A couple of weeks for me, some people on the course had it done within a few days.

I found the personal statement really hard. What do you keep changing?

Ahh, have you got anything back graded yet? I'm finding the work ok, just time consuming. I'm stressing a bit with fitting in the time, especially now it's dark and cold, my body wants more sleep! But nothing too major.

MishMashMosher · 14/11/2018 15:56

Yes I've submitted 5 units out of 20 but I'm actually on unit 7 at the moment as it takes so long for them to mark my work, so I'm a bit ahead. I've passed all the units I've submitted so far.

The bit about why I want to be a nurse. I'm happy with the rest of it. It's just that one section. I can't seem to put down on paper what I'm thinking.

I know exactly what you mean about the cold dark. Mornings/evenings. I'm really struggling to get out of bed!

Liesmyparentstoldme · 14/11/2018 17:11

Congratulations on passing everything 😊 so far I've only submitted a maths level 2 unit and some study skills bits and pieces. So nothing much.

I know the feeling, sorry I can't think of any advice though!

Me too! Bring on the summer!

MishMashMosher · 16/11/2018 07:10

Sorry if you've already said but what course have you applied for? I know it was something sciencey?

I don't think I've got any full maths units just little tests every so often.

OP posts:
MishMashMosher · 17/11/2018 18:13

I've just sent off my ucas! I hope the course provider doesn't take too long to add the reference.

Liesmyparentstoldme · 18/11/2018 07:16

Biomedical Science.

Ooh well done, congratulations 😊

MishMashMosher · 24/11/2018 10:09

Thank you! I got an invitation for an interview for my top choice. I'm so happy!

Liesmyparentstoldme · 27/11/2018 09:32

Congratulations 😊 that's awesome. When is your interview?

Hey, I was wondering if any of you could tell me what course material you need for the access HE nursing and midwifery course?

NoNotHimTheOtherOne · 20/04/2023 22:54

Bear in mind if you're at Sunderland some of your placements could be in north Teesside/Hartlepool and south Durham/Darlington. You need to check with each university you want to apply to: where are their students placed and how are placements allocated (e.g. are students with childcare commitments given priority for placements closer to the university)? You can't assume any of this.
