Cost of joining clubs at uni - Exeter

Just interested in the amount dc pay to join sports clubs at uni. Dd at UEA and it was £50 for a sports card which you needed to join any sports club. Clubs then charged different fees for the year. The ones she joined were then only about £15.

Ds hopefully off to Exeter (or Swansea as insurance). I read somewhere online that Exeter’s clubs are really expensive - think it was a newspaper article from a few years back.

What sort of costs are involved?

Apparently at Bangor they’re free!

I'm interested in this too.

I think my DS paid £300 for the gym at Exeter ... not sure ... but it's full of the sorts who don't bat an eyelid at that ... I see from the website it's £29 a month so £348 for full year. And hall fees at Holland are a mere £7,916 a year, just the 32 weeks. Super.

I cant remember what DD paid to join the gym at Bristol - required as she was a member of a sports team, but it was quite expensive. Worse through was the kit, blazer etc which was really pricey. It made a big dent in her first term's money, but she then spent less in the next two terms. Sports tour was an added cost. An important team bonding thing, though several did not take because of money.

I think my daughters boyfriend payed significantly more for golf - about £120 but my daughter only paid £60 for Dance. Cheerleading was £40, I think. Far more spent in restaurants, clubs and bars!
