Does anyone know when York starts to make offers? DS has had responses from 4 of his 5 choices so just waiting for York - on a gap year so already has results. Thanks.

Choirmum DD got an offer about two hours ago. It was for AAB which she thinks is higher than they were asking for last year. Anyway she is pleased to have 4 offers in the bag. Just has to choose now!

Excellent news! Yes, almost decision time.
I think DS's favourite is still Sheffield but he may have the same gut reaction to Cardiff that he had at open day when he has his interview in 2 weeks time. I think York would be a great fit for him but trying not to say too much - his decision.

Yes it's really hard helping them make their own decisions without railroading with your own ideas. Think we are going to do the offer holder days to see if that helps with where she wants to go.

York have now offered her an unconditional place if she puts them as her firm choice. She is really pleased but extra confused now! My only issue is that York is so far away from us.

Where did York rank in her choices originally? I suppose that's the question to ask.
I know distance can be scary but I think it's more about accessibility than miles. DS is about 330 miles from home for his gap year, but it's only a 1hr flight. The south-west can be trickier.

I am not sure where it ranked as that seems to be a moveable feast! GrinReally hoping that the offer days will help her decide.

DS now has firm offers from all 5 choices, and has only definitely ruled out one! Great position to be in if a bit bewildering. Marmite, is your DD going to a York offer day on Wednesday by any chance?

Dd considering giving up uni after first term - now home
.
Likes living away from home and although she is reasonably bright - got all grade a inna levels whilst had glandular fever - she is a very practical person and isn't loving lectures and lots of reading .
She had a job in sixth form and loved earning own money . She says to her uni is a way to leave home and be independent but that the thought of 3 years more study does not excite her . She wonders if she should do an apprenteship to do with horses as is very able on that department . She just doesn't know what she wants to do . We saw uni as a time for her to mature and see life but the study doesn't interest her . She said she felt obliged to go to uni as she did ok and wanted it to be independent . Don't know how to approach this as I love study and find it hard to get to grips with the idea of lectures not being exiting . It's not just the course - she knows it's a good course . Her db is at a non Russell group uni and she is comparing his experience to hers - his seems work combined with a lot of fun whereas hers is more academically focussed with a lot of reading .
It hasn't helped that she has been ill most of her first term as she has after effects of glandular fever and has been v tired . Refuses to defer .
Help !!! 😊
