Urgent advice pls - QMary London

DS has just got an clearing offer from QMary London. Is anyone else going there? Does anyone know the area? I have very little first hand experience of East London. Thanks!

It's a really cool campus - there's an old Jewish cemetery in the middle of it - and it's surprisingly pretty (it's right by the river). The immediate area is a bit rough, I will say, but I think the campus itself would be a nice place to study.

My friend teaches there and she likes the atmosphere.

DS is in halls nearby though he studies elsewhere. East London is excellent these days...since the olympics the transport and shopping and nightlife is all excellent. QM has good reputation and interacts a lot with other London colleges. Odds on he will love it there.

Ds finished there this summer he had a great experience there and a fab result. Made loads of friends from all over the world and now knows London like the back of his hand. PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks so much for all your replies. My experience of the area was more than 30 years ago and it sounds as if it has improved a lot!

He is now trying to find accommodation! 'Stratford ONE' in the olympic park seems the nearest available. It's about 12k I think - pricey, but there's not a great deal of choice nearby. He's keen to make friends in the 1st year.

Wow - what a great uni to get into via clearing! What is he studying?

DH did law there and 4 friends did geography, chemistry, physics snd astro-physics (years ago).

I work there. Ask him to talk to his School (university department) asap as all schools have a very small clearing allocation of university on campus accomodation for their clearing students. They may have filled their allocation already but there's no harm in asking.
