What can I do with an "Initial certificate in councelling skills"?

It looks like an interesting course, but - can I get a job with it?

Colditz - I'm looking to do the same, though have been told by a practising counsellor that the advanced diploma (which you can do after the basic certificate) is the way to go as during the 2 years you have placements and it is only during that time that you work out what area of counselling you want to work in, and I believe you have to undertake counselling yourself - though not sure if this may vary with different courses?
I really want to do this but with 3 young boys I don't think I can make the commitment just yet.
I'm someone will be on here who knows more....

Hey,

My Introduction to Counselling course helped me get my current job as a Support Worker with adults with learning difficulities. It showed that I had good listening skills and empathy which was just the type of person they were looking for, it didn't matter that i'm not a qualified counsellor.
