Can I afford to retrain?

I'm hoping to retrain from Sept 2017. I've got two children at primary school and they'll need to be in childcare before and after school to enable me to retrain. I'm sure I'm not alone in this situation! Will I get any financial support for this? At the minute I rely heavily on tax credits to get by and I work full time.

Thanks in advance for your help Smile

What are you wanting to do? You might qualify for parents' learning allowance depending on your family income and you'll get student loans if you don't already have a degree. Shocking your loans will come to upwards of £51k for a three year degree so be very sure and make sure it will get you specific work skills.

Hi Jennifer. Thanks for your help.

I'm a single mum, wanting to do teacher training. I've got an undergraduate degree and been in full time employment for c 15 years.

It would be a big step and I'm just wanting to find out what my options are before making the leap.
