Dd is in a major sulk as her application for year 2 has been declined asvdh fucked up the application form
I normally do forms, but he decided to go solo and now I've got to fix it

Anyone know what we do know?
Does she apply again or does she have to appeal?
She is in a sulk and isn't being much use and I can't find much info online

I'm in meetings all morning so can't do much today
Anyone been in this situation?

What was the mistake? It will be easier to advise with that info.

He put in our income and then when asked if he wanted to give financial information he said no
Then he was taken to a screen saying it was declined and the student would get an email
He tried to go back and resubmit but it wouldn't let him

He put in our income and then when asked if he wanted to give financial information he said no

So what did he expect to happen? Students have a choice: provide no financial information, tick the "fees and minimum maintenance loan" and get the minimum, or get their parents to provide financial information and get a larger loan if eligible. Obviously, if you know your household is over the threshold you do the former because it's much faster, but if parents want their child to have access to the larger loans, they need to prove eligibility.

We declined to give financial information because we knew our household income was over the threshold for DD to be eligible for a non-repayable maintenance grant for students in low-income families. We got an email confirming that we had declined to give that information but that DD would be still be getting her tuition fees paid and a repayable maintenance loan.

She needs to phone Student Finance or check her account online.

All Students can get the basic student maintenance loan and Tuition fee loan without parents being assessed. So she should still get that. So get your DD to phone and check

Thanks everyone
I just don't understand what he has done as she was only applying for the tuition fees and basic loan
Now I've had to print off loads of forms and they need posting off

In which case the issue of financial details should never have arisen. If you know that you're eligible neither for the (no longer available for new applicants) non-repayable grants nor for the additional loans, but only for the basic loan and fees, you simply tick the box and supply no details.
