Has anyone used a professional advisor or agency to help with US university applications? Worth the money?

It very much depends! What is your current situation -- where is the student currently studying and have you already looked into college coaches, as your OP suggests, and therefore have an idea of what they charge?

I know of a very good one who charges less than most... does it because she loves it, specialises in helping kids from the UK and France. PM me if you like for her details.
