Which City to be a student in?

Noticed there is a current thread on Nottingham in chat and wondered what thoughts people had on other cities - but in this case relating to being a student? We are looking at Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Leeds and Liverpool. Any thoughts or experiences?

I have one in Manchester and one in Liverpool at the moment. They visit each other ocaisionally so we get some comparisons. Both cities are very buzzy with loads going on. Apparently Liverpool is cheaper, both for accommodation and also nights out. Liverpool is also warmer and less rainy. However it does seem to be very very easy to get a part time job in Manchester.

We have DD2 currently choosing for next year, personally I prefer Liverpool to Manchester; it just seems smaller and friendlier (and less druggy). DD has thrown Dublin into the mix too though. Does anyone have DC studying there?
