Maintenance Grant due today but nothing in account

Should I tell DD not to panic yet because it could be credited anytime today - or is it usually there first thing and she should call SFE to chase it?

It definitely says it's due on 1st Sept, and the bank account details provided are correct. Anyone else in the same situation?

The loan my daughter gets (maintenance loan, not grant) is paid in a few days after enrolment on the course.

I don't know if grants are different and get paid earlier - perhaps they do?

Is this her first year?

onadifferentplanet · 01/09/2015 11:10

Has she enrolled at Uni this term? This is usually done first day or when you collect keys on moving in day, As far as I know the payment isn't released until after her attendance is confirmed by her Uni.

DoubleDeClutchMuch · 01/09/2015 11:16

So sorry - OP should read LOAN not grant.

It's her second year. I don't know what day it arrived in her account last year - assuming the same date as stated on the schedule of payments.
OK maybe she has to confirrm she is attending first. Although she is there now and has enrolled.

If she has enrolled on this years course (as opposed to is just living there because she has a second year accommodation rental, which often starts early) then I think I would ring SFE to get clarification.

StrawberriCream · 01/09/2015 11:38

Is it like pay and can be any time till 5pm? I would leave it for today and if not in by 5 and all information correct and she has definately enrolled then call tomorrow

Emochild · 01/09/2015 11:47

My loan has always gone in overnight so it was available on the morning it was due -with it being a bank holiday weekend i'm quite surprised it didn't go in on Friday if its due today

It's very early for loan payments to be due though -I'd chase it, it's an unusual payment date plus bh weekend -someone may have forgotten to press a button ????

Has she reapplied for this year? I don't think it comes through automatically, I have a dd going into year 3, towards the end of last summer she suddenly realised she had to reapply for funding for 2nd year. This year she just has to tell them if there have been any changes to take into account.

ISingSoprano · 01/09/2015 13:30

Ds's loan is due to arrive on 24th Sept - the first official day of term/semester (as a third year (!) he has already enrolled for the year)

DoubleDeClutchMuch · 02/09/2015 13:25

Thank you all for your replies! Finally got DD to call them - and they said 1st September was an approximate date and the money will be in her account on 3rd September.So,tomorrow.

Strange though, because on the payment schedule it said 1st September as a definite date. Perhaps the Uni took their time to confirm her re-registration this year.
