student finance change in circumstances

DS is currently waiting for his A level results and hoping to start uni in the autumn. Both his firm and insurance are in London so it's going to be expensive, particularly for accommodation. His student finance package was all calculated based on my income and DP's (not his dad). However, out relationship has now ended and DP has moved out. If I contact student finance and let them know is it too late to recalculate his student finance for this year?

It's not too late. SFE will recalculate given the changed circumstances and tell you/son the new revised figures. Good luck on August 12th. Good choice, London!

That was quick, thanks for replying. We have everything crossed for results day.
His firm (imperial college) has a generous bursary scheme too so hopefully if I let student finance know it won't be too late for imperial to adjust their figures too.

It's never too late. SFE deals with changed circumstances almost everyday right throughout the year. Great choice too, Imperial, and I presume it's for a BSc degree? What's his insurance alternative?

My husband walked out after my student son's first term. SF were fabulous and DS ended up with a full grant, his loan and a bursary from Manchester for being from a low income family. (His Dad earns a 6 figure salary and I do think such men should be made to pay but it is as it is). DS graduated 3 weeks ago with 1st class honours Master of Physics and starts his first job tomorrow as an oil forecasting analyst so proud mum here!

He's going to do a 4 year MEng, peteneras, either joint Maths and computing at Imperial if he manages to make his offer (AAAA) or his insurance Mathematical Computation at UCL.

oldfatandtired1, fantastic you must be really proud. DS's dad hasn't been around for years so I'm taking all the credit!

And so you should Smile I know I am! Seriously, SF were great in my dealings with them, I know not everybody has such good experiences. That's a clever boy you've got there.

Im biased I know but he is very clever and has worked very hard so I'm hoping he gets the results he deserves. Can't believe my little boy is about to leave home though Sad
Luckily he has a 2 year old sister so my nest is not quite empty but I'm still going to miss him like crazy (and so will she)
