Does anyone know when child benefit stops please, is it the date they leave school or is it the date they start their university course?

I am also wondering about child tax credits as we get those as well.

My dd is 16 but she will be starting a foundation degree course in September.

"Child Benefit stops 31 August on or after your child’s 16th birthday if they leave education or training. It continues if they stay in approved education or training, but you must tell the Child Benefit Office."

A foundation degree is Higher Ed, so you'll lose both CHB and CTC in respect of your DD from the first week of September.

A foundation degree at 16 is very unusual. Is she a performer? Or do you mean a foundation course?

Thanks, so it is the 31st August then. Yes, it is performing arts, and a BA Hons at the end of it, but the first two of the three years are technically classed as a foundation degree.

We knew we would lose tax credits and child benefit, I just wasn't sure what date.
