DD has just had an offer from Kings (her preferred choice) but she's still waiting for one more offer before firming. Does anyone have any experience of Kings - especially in regards to accommodation and also costs? She would prefer to self cater but would like to hear from others. Anyone enlighten us please?

Kings must have their accommodation costs for each self catering hall on their website! I don't know their halls, but as it's London, they won't be the cheapest in the UK! I am sure others will have intimate knowledge!

Their web site says allow £1000-£1200 a month for living expenses.

Kings have very limited accommodation, first years only I think, and I think you have to live outside the M25 to qualify.Even then, it's not guaranteed that you'd get a place. Check their website for prices.

My DS rented a room in a shared flat about half an hours travel away ( Bermondsey) which cost about £500 pm for a tiny room in a not very nice area. The following year he paid £650 rent for a not very nice flat share but bigger room, about the same distance away.

Tube pass was £90 pm, including student discount.

Then you need to add on food, entertainment, bills.....

Bermondsey is changing out of all recognition at the moment. Very trendy in parts nowadays! Very well placed area for students based at Guy's and not that far from Waterloo, Denmark Hill or the Strand either.
