sutton trust summer school for grammar school pupils?

is there any point applying if you are at a grammar school? DH and I are working class, low income,haven't got degrees. DS2 is of the right sort of calibre and has the level of enthusiasm for his subject, to be applying to oxbridge (his teachers say).
Have looked at teh website and it seems to be for pupils at schools which don't send many pupils to top unis?

Yes, I'd say it's definitely worth applying. I've known grammar school pupils get accepted by Sutton Trust. I think they look a lot at the background, as well as the school. So if your ds would be one of the first in the family to go to university I think that would all count in his favour.

Oxford have a separate summer school scheme called Uniq. Only open to state school pupils. I assume that includes grammar schools. My d went last summer. She goes to a non-selective comp but not a deprived area. I think one of the main criteria is good GCSE results.

Good GCSE results compared to your school average. My grammar school dd1 would have had no chance! But comp dd2 is going to apply.

That's for Uniq. Sutton Trust seemed to be more about background, first in family to go to uni, etc - I know dd2 didn't think she would be looked on as favourably.

I'd say go for it... My son is at a grammar school and was accepted for a week at Durham this past summer. He really enjoyed it, and wants to go there next September (just a little matter of getting 3 As) but it has motivated him in a way I could never have!
It is hard to get a place, and I'm sure there is an element of luck. If he had applied to, say, Edinburgh, he might not have been accepted, and as far as I know, there are no published statistics to guide you.
