DS is in year12, did great in his GCSEs and has got good predictions for his AS levels, although it's obviously early days.

He wants to go to uni but has no idea what career he wants or what to study. How can I help him get ideas? All help gratefully received.

He is doing Maths,Economics,Geography and Psychology and know a he will probably drop maths next year.

If he enjoys economics the most, my advice would be to keep doing maths and to work hard at it to get a better grade at AS level.

It is too early in the academic year to regard the prediction as set in stone. If he is currently predicted a "C" in maths, that can be changed depending on what work he puts in.

Taking maths for A2 will give him more options in the long run that the Econ, Psy, Geo option. He can drop either Psy or Geo.

Even Development Studies is becoming more mathematical.

It isn't just about getting in to a course, it is also about coping well with the course once there.

Having A2 maths would considerably enhance his choices within social sciences in general.

He may like to consider this course:

Good luck!

interesting set of statistics have been published by the HESA which includes the destinations of students by subject studied

might also be worth taking into consideration when thinking about what to study

DS wants to go to uni but has no idea what course.
