Nottingham Trent extra long beds - where to get linen?

I am sorry, this really is the most trivial of questions.

DD will be off to Nottingham Trent in September. The hall she is going into has 6 foot 9 inch beds. I am sure this will be wonderfully comfortable and all that but where the hell do we get bedding?

Anybody know where New Hall residents gets their sheets from please?

Ikea have very odd shaped beds, have you looked at their measurements to see if one will fit? There's a bus from Nottingham city centre to Ikea in Eastwood.

Amazon have all sorts of shapes and sizes.

Thanks, I hadnt been successful on amazon as all I had been able to find was 2 metre where the beds are 2.06 metre. Ikea is also limited to 2 metre.

So far all I have found are fitted sheets for a wincing £22.50 each plus P&P.

IKEA don't do the longer, continental sizes any more, except online.

Genuine question and I hope I don't offend but I see similar questions on here a lot by parents asking about things they need to sort for their off springs forthcoming uni life. Are these children not young adults, would your dc not sort their own sheets out for example? I know when I went to uni I bought and sorted all my own stuff as did my friends. My parents wouldn't have had a clue what size the beds were in my halls!

Certainly DD could sort this for herself. She will undoubtedly be asking on FB what others are doing.

Going with DD to get stuff has been fun. A last mother/daughter bonding trip before she is launched onto the world.

As a parent it is tricky to get the balance. My parents just left me to get on with it to an extent that I felt they didnt really give a shit. Actually, they didnt. Also they had very outdated views. In their heads I was off to some sort of boarding school!

I would probably just get a flat sheet and tuck it under for now.

Yup thanks, that is what we have gone for - king size flat sheets which will be long enough.

Start with the uni, a lot do accommodation packs that include bedding.

Use two sheets - the bottom one on the lower half of the bed and the top one on the top half?

Try the USA, I believe US dorms have extra long beds.

Buy flat sheets and only make the top of the bed leaving a foot without a sheet - as long as she isn't 6ft tall she should be OK.

Managed to get king size sheets from the home bargains shop. They are about the size of a continent. Will leave DD to sort it out for herself when it comes to bed making.

Thank you for the advice. Extra long bed looked luxurious at the time of booking accommodation. It now just looks like a pain in the bum!

Flat kingsize will do very nicely. You could also get a set of these elastic clips which effectively turn any flat sheet into a fitted sheet.

Yes Gnome I think you are right, looking back I probably wish my parents had got involved more. Glad you got it sorted out.
