Does anyone know about science admissions

I have emailed the institution but wondering if anyone is in-the-know...
I am looking at This course, which is a BSc but its within the school of Classics etc. It states entry requirements are ABB and there are no subject specific requirements.

I have the A levels but they are 15 years old and not in science unless you count psychology. I also got a HE diploma immediately following that (unfinished degree basically). I've worked FT since then.

Would I have a chance as a mature student or would a foundation course be required?

Has anyone done a BSc with no science A Levels or is this a ridiculous idea?

Don't get hung up about BSc/BA. For subjects that could sit in either area, sometimes the divide is just about which faculty a dept is located in rather than the content of the course.

If they are not asking for science A levels then it suitable for people from a range of backgrounds and so your A levels would be fine.

But a bigger concern might be that you have not studied anything recently. We always look for evidence of recent study and/or a professional interest in the subject.

Look down to what they require from boards other than ALevels - preference given to at least one scuence, e.g. a combination of Biology, Geography and Psychology. Although it does say there are no subject preferences for ALevel it's quite likely you'll be competing with applicants who do have science ALevels. There will be a lot of science in evolutionary anthropology.

Do you have any relevant professional or voluntary experience, e.g. Volunteering for an environmental charity?

PiratePanda, no I have absolutely no relevant experience. My career is in computing. A big bulk of the course is archaeology so I was thinking that might be the best way to get some experience by volunteering at a museum or trying to get into the local archaeology scene. Do you think that would help?

I have also found a science access course which is used as a foundation year for a different local uni, but obviously that is adding another year onto the timetable I would have to be out of work, so if there is something I could do part time / distance learning wise, that might make it more do-able.

For us, we would want the study to be at least level 3 course (so A level equivalent), but we would accept a range within it (A level, access course, OU modules). Distance learning would not be a problem as long as the educational provider was credible and not a dodgy internet scam!

Your best bet is to wait and see what the admission tutor says.
