University of Manchester today. DH took him, no idea what either of them think of the place. Will quiz them when they return. Grin

DD and a couple of friends went to Warwick last Friday, they then went on to London on Saturday to see Kings and Queen Marys. This Saturday we are taking DD and her boyfriend to Nottingham. Her school are taking her to Oxford and Cambridge 2nd /3rd July then on Saturday 5th July we are off to Durham. We will leave York and Kent until September/October.

DS1 is Y11, but we have been advised to start this summer. He is going to Oxford with school next week, so far Glasgow, Durham and Lancaster are on his list.

I would also recommend starting early Raspberry, especially if they are unsure on subject choice. It's full on at the open days.

Completely agree re going on visits early. DS visited one of the local unis in the September of Year 12. He was almost definite that he wanted to study maths. But, sensibly he had booked places on talks on maths, engineering maths, and engineering. That 45 min engineering talk changed his whole focus.
He realised that Maths at degree level was too theoretical to interest him, and instead he was far more interested in applying maths to engineering projects.
I'm not sure he would've been so confident to change his focus if he was only a few weeks off completing his UCAS form

DS has started booking open days for September. He's being optimistic about his AS results, I want to steer him to look at some places that don't want AAA. Whatuni is proving helpful.
