DS hasn't registered for graduation on time

Oh dear - DS submitted his dissertation late because of illness and has only recently heard that the board of studies accepted it. In all this, he completed forgot to register for graduation - deadline was end of May. I've only just found out, having gone to the graduation pages on the website to find out how we can get an additional ticket.

The facility for registering has now been removed from his student record pages. With his acceptance, comes a couple of tickets for us as guests.

Final results not out until end of June but there is - or was - this deadline. The website says get in touch if you've missed the deadline and I know this is a daft question, but do you think his chances will be reasonable? He'd hate to miss his graduation and we'd naturally like to be there for him. Anyone else's DC been in this boat and was it all alright in the end?

Thanks!

If he gets in touch with them asap, there is a slim chance that he might be able to include him this year. Most universities send endless reminders to students, so be prepared for them to say it is to late.

Different universities have different default settings in they don't get a response. It will either be to graduate in absentia or to defer. If the latter he will be able to attend a graduation ceremony next year.

Thanks for your reply, creamteas.

Good news - the Uni has accepted a late registration.

It was touch and go and hopefully DS has learnt that he must look at Uni emails even after the course is over.
