best university for gay DD?

DD has offers from Sussex, Leeds, Nottingham, and might get Edinburgh. On the open and applicant days, felt v comfortable at Sussex, but worries that Leeds isn't 'gay-friendly' - ie. is there a pool of people 'like her'? (her words). Although from an academic point of view, Leeds is her first choice so far. Does anyone have any experience of this? Or advise where she could find out more? She's not really into a lesbian scene.

Leeds uni used to have a very active LGBT so and as a city is gay friendly (but not as big a scene as Manchester or Brighton).

But feeling comfortable with the uni atmosphere is about more than just your sexual orientation, I think. If you go to a place where you don't feel comfortable you might have a miserable time and not do as well. I understand Leeds to be LGBT friendly as a uni but atmosphere is a more personal thing. I did a Masters at a uni where I felt comfortable and came top of my year, whereas my undergrad years were undoubtedly the most miserable years of my life and I would've done a lot better at a different uni that wasn't as high in the league tables.

Leeds is a pretty LGB friendly place. Not as 'out' as Manchester but pretty good. Sorry, Dont have direct experience of the others.

Thanks to all of you who have replied - I'm going to show them all to her. She's narrowed down to Leeds and Sussex (didn't like the course offered to her at Nottingham) and still hasn't yet heard from Edinburgh.

I've just asked a friend who's a lesbian who recently graduated from Leeds, she says she would say Leeds (as in the city) is lesbian friendly

DS got an offer from Edinburgh last night, so she'll hear in the next couple of days or so. They always do their offers later than the others
