OK - one week down the line and settling in and now the "oh I forgot" emails are arriving....

So I start with .....

"my memory foam mattress - the bed here is hard and uncomfortable"

"two noodle bowls"

"a 15 foot Ethernet cable - so I don't have to sit at my desk and can use the internet in bed"

"a washing up bowl"

... sure the list will be more by the end of the week

SilverApples I love your idea. Now what is the general opinion on how to deal with a very tricky issue - that of Advent calendars? Because of course if they start one off, they then have to bring it home to finish it. Although maybe they would just clear out all the boxes as they leave.

I always sent mine a chocolate Advent calendar. They just used to eat it all before they came home. Then they joined in with the family gift one.

DS1 took the charger and a 3 pin adapter for his toothbrush but forgot to take the brush. I couldn't resist getting a few treats to send him seeing as how I have to go to the PO to post the brush (my choice to do that - not his) Smile

It's a long time since I've been to keen to grab my phone when I get a text message alert

DD has already said she wants an advent calendar, and yes I think she will eat all the chocolate before she comes home (I would!)

I don't think ds has left anything at home except his wellies (which he may need as he will do a bit of boat work on his course). But I am planning to send him some treats like his favourite chocolate or a dvd from time to time.

DD1 would have been hard-pressed to leave anything behind - her entire room has either gone with her or been boxed and gone in the loft. Her room will now be spare room/home office, and she and DD2 will share when they're both back during the holidays.

I know some people think we're really mean, but we pay the mortgage...

DD2, on the other hand, managed to go off without a vital DVD, vital paperwork, and essential uniform, which she'd ordered two days before leaving, instead of during the summer holidays. I dispatched those together with some family photos from my camera, which I printed out for her pin board.

I have just located a pair of deck shoes under his bed. Was surprised how little they cost to send.... He can reimburse me at a later date!

Dropped off "forgotten items" and was well impressed .

My PBF has grown up big time in just a couple of weeks - well his room look like a tip (let's forget that one) but his attitude to coping on his own was 1st class.

Luckily he has managed to get together with most of his flatmates and they seem to be coping well... I managed to overlook the mess and debris in the kitchen and nodded in the appropriate places - thank God I didn' t have to do the washing up though ... I thought about it and decided "Nah".... your mess you sort it and drove away !!!!

They to be settling well and I seem to be sleeping better too..

My work is done - but I would do it all again - big sobs !!!!
