Partner Starting Uni - Student Loans and Child Tad Credits

My partner is about to start uni. I know we need to inform Tax Credits about his student loans and grant, but I wondered if anyone knew how much they take into account as income? I know some is discounted for books, travel etc. Just wanted to know how much it is going to affect Tax Credits. Thanks.

I only have grants not loans and the tax credits people said that they don't count any of it as income. I was a little sceptical but she was very convinced. You may get a different answer though!
