Uni admissions people: What happens if.....

Some may know from my previous post that DD is strongly veering towards taking a year out because she thinks she's made the wrong choice with her subject and uni's.

What I want to know is:

If she gets an offer from her firm or insurance but decides she doesn't want to go to either (not just defer) what is the procedure?

Also:

Does she then just re-apply to uni's again next year and what would happen if she decided that she did actually want to go to the one that made her an offer this year but she had declined, can she just re-apply to that one too?

not an admission person but my understanding is that she withdraws from UCAS and reapplies next year. If she reapplies to one she has turned down they may be more reluctant to make a second offer but they may be happy she's really sure, could play either way.

Mine got offers from Edinburgh and Royal Holloway, rejected them, reapplied following year and got offers again.

thank you already, yes, Leicester was her firm but she has now changed her mind I've just looked at clearing and they are offering Criminology at BBB or equivalent and when she applied it was ABB with no equivalent, so pretty sure she will have an offer (worse case scenario she should have ABC) Gutted she has changed her mind tbh

Yes, she needs to tell the uni she is not attending that she doesn't want the place, and preferably to do this soon so they can fill the place. (It is really annoying when students tell you after clearing has finished or worse still just don't bother turning up at the beginning of term).

She is free to apply to any uni the following year. But if applying to the same uni and/or similar courses it would be useful to explain why she was reapplying. Just saying, I wasn't really sure and needed some time to think is perfectly acceptable, but if it wasn't there I would wonder why.

You can defer a place, which means it's held for you in the following year. Univsities really dont mind this, as it's " one in the bag", but what we don't like is non-communication! Let her Firm and Insurance universities know.

If she pulls out completely and reapplies via UCAS for different universities, or different courses at the same universities, then explain why the pull out. It'd be a pretty straightforward explanation in your DD's case.
