Courses are broadly similar
Discarded those too far away
Discarded those we have visited & disliked

It's so hard - we still have twice as many an we should have

How wonderful for them - they must be so chuffed to be sorted before they even do their GCSEs

The next problem (once we have reduced it to a manageable number) is what order she does them in - which combines nicely with your do some now & some later

  1. Closest (cheapest for fares!)

  2. Is there no relevant league table to consult? Prestige table?

  3. What is her first love, go for one that is best at that?

  4. Where are friends going?

  5. Nicest place to live.

Choosing just 5 on that basis seems enough to me! Just 5 lots of application fees right?

KatyMac · 11/08/2013 20:03

I think we have the 3 second choices

But we still have 8 first choices - this needs to be 6 so we need to lose 2

It's getting better

If the 2 are not really being lost, just moved to the second choices, which are less prestigious?

I would the dream one would perhaps need to be maybe third application. Enough to learn from the initial auditions but not too far in that she is tired (and possibly slightly negative if they come through as negative)

Is one audition it - she won't get recalls will she?

  1. Closest (cheapest for fares!) & 5) Nicest place to live are the same & my favourite

  2. Is there no relevant league table to consult? Prestige table? not really

  3. What is her first love, go for one that is best at that? top of the list

  4. Where are friends going? no friends going; all school friends doing A levels locally

It's one audition then a funding audition

The issue is getting plenty of offers but no funding

There are 2 lists; level 6 - too many on the list (8) & level 3 if she isn't good enough. I think we have the level 3s sorted

Yes I think 3rd too

okay, flip it around, of those remaining, try to eliminate:

  • Most expensive living costs

  • Most far away

  • Least prestigious

  • Ugliest or smallest or otherwise biggest question marks or uncertainties

KatyMac · 11/08/2013 20:34

Most expensive living costs mainly central London*

Most far away everything over 4 hours has gone & only 2 over 3 hours are very, very good*

Least prestigious this is the nicest place to live & the closest & the cheapest* & it 's the biggest question mark too

There is one that doesn't have the government funding but her teacher likes it & it has a scholarship
