Not a good outlook for many who have seen applications drop away significantly this year. Probably a bit worrying if your offspring attend/just applied to any of those mentioned.

There are lots of unis near the edge, but IMO they wouldn't just close, it would be too politically and financially costly for the government.

It is more likely that there would be a 'merger' , the students would then be moved overtime to the non-failing one and the other one asset stripped sold.
