Anybody gone down the Open Uni route?

Apologies if this has been done before but I am looking at wanting to learn while my DS is young and have been looking at Open Uni, what are your experiences of it?

There's lot of posters studying with OU or at conventional universities.

I don't know if this is true, but i have heard that employers don't look upon an open university degree with the same enthusiasm as a degree from a attended university.
