First year at Uni just finished! How has everyone else's DC got on?

Gosh, seems such a long time since we were hand holding waiting for their results last August to see whether they'd got into their first choice Uni.

DS has just finished his first year at Exeter and is on his way home now. Thankfully he appears to have chosen the right course (law) and is really enjoying it. I was shocked at how many had dropped out so early on, both the course and the Uni. Some have reapplied for other Unis next year and will now be hit with the higher tuition fees Sad

He managed to get himself a job in the campus shop which was really good so has managed to earn a little bit of money to help make a dent in his student debts! Contract all signed for his squat/flat for next year which appears to be in the middle of the fast food section of town Hmm

I have stocked up on bin bags and washing liquid and clothes line is out ready awaiting his arrival. Oh, and of course the fridge is fully stocked and I have promised there will not be a toasted cheese sandwich in sight!

Would love to hear how everyone else's DC have been getting on.

jaffacake2 I think my DD would have liked to do that. No chance of a job at home. BUT her house rental period doesn't start until 1st September.

DS2 getting picked up from Nottm on Saturday.
2nd yr results on Friday!
He applied for and got to final interview stage with 3 big accounting firms, but fell at final hurdle for a summer internship!
But what the hell, he's got a job at Wimbledon in security on No 1 court and he's got paid bar / waiting work at the Olympics!!!!
The corporate world can wait for a summer (or more) and he's off to Croatia and interailing before going back to uni in September!

homeaway would have thought our two would know each other if they are both first years doing Euro langs. Happy to be back in UK - love where we live but do miss the weather. Would dearly love to sell our Spanish house as it's not really a lock up & leave so it's always on my mind. DS VERY happy to be in UK but at a big disadvantage socially when not at Uni as he has no school friends to hang around with over the holidays. Still trying to get a job but no luck so far.
BestIsWest the lung thing was terrible - completely out of the blue and as they couldn't reinflat op was required - he is a fit lad but tall and slim and apparently they are the most at risk. Was in Aber first then transferred to Swansea for op and recovery so we got used to that drive very quickly! Thank heavens we had moved back to UK.

Just got back from a week in Devon - amazed to see the house in a good state and the cats well feed!

I know I'm the last to say this, but we're finally all home! DD came back yesterday as the York term finished just on Friday - first year successfully negotiated.

And DS has been home a week after getting a 2:1 from Bristol.

And both have jobs! But my house is full of STUFF!

DS just got first year results in - I know they don't count but he got a 1st in Spanish, French high 2:1 so I'm a happy mum! He is away staying with a friend from Uni for a couple of days which is good and is back at our place in Spain for a couple of weeks before he returns to Uni but no job unfortunately.
gettingalifenow congrats to your DS.
Bearcat what a great summer your DS2 has sorted
