Can I cope with an art foundation course, three children, and freelancing?

Hi there, I've always regretted not doing an art foundation course after school and going another route. Now I'm considering, 22 years later, giving it a go at our local college starting September. I have three children, aged 2, 6, and 8 and I work freelance in publishing (working at home). We couldn't cope with a year of no income from me. But we could cope with a year of reduced income. My question is how 'full-on' would a foundation course be? How much class time does it involve? What sort of childcare would I expect to need around my two school-aged children and my pre-nursery boy? Am I mad to consider it?? Anyone had any experience, advice etc? I am going to go to the college's open day to ask these questions but am too excited to wait that long!!

well the college is best placed to tell you about contact time
doable? why not?
Very exciting for you - go for it!

Thanks, I'm going to investigate at the very least :)

Very ambitious but nothing is impossible!

It's not contact time thats the problem, it's studio time. It may only look like 4 or 5 hours a week, but for a foundation year you can expect another 30 in the studio... And bear in mind that the studios may only be open at times which don't nec fit with how you'd like to work.....
