My DSD is going to uni in Sept

She has had a letter saying she has to send a £200 deposit on her acomodation. the thing is we are on benifits and havn't got it to be honest! What will happen?

She will need to pay it to secure her room really.

Has she had a letter of confirmation yet, from her Student Loan company detailing payment dates etc? It may be a bit early for this yet, but if she has- my DS arranged overdraft facilities on his student account, using that confirmation letter as a 'guarantee' for future incoming funds.

The other possibility is a loan from the jobcentres social fund? You pay it back a bit each week from your benefits.

Is the accommodation in halls
and are they private or owned by the
University.

I think they owned by the Uni and she has funding all sorted so will try both the overdraft and the social on monday. I feel like i jumping through hoops, just get sorted and somthing else comes up xx

U know what you feel like. DD2 is going into her 3rd year at uni in September. Try speaking to the uni abs explaining your situation or your DS could do it. I know when DD2 went into halls there was a deposit to pay, which we managed ribose foe her. We forbid back at thieves of the uni year . Anyway a couple of girls couldn't 'pay the deposit before they got their loan. They still got a place and just paid when the
Loan came in.

She is going speak to her grandad see if he will lend it her. fingers crossed this will all be sorted tomorrow.x thanks for the replys xx

Good luck, the initial 'working out how it all ticks' takes a while, once you know its much easier...

2 tips- When the first statement arrives telling you/her how much her loan interest is- Don't panic! just put it in the box with the rest of the paperwork, and forget about it..

Be prepared to blubb and worry like crazy when she leaves, it's natural!

It's exciting, hope she has a great time! x
