vibrating/musical bouncers vs letting baby bounce themselves - which is better?

First time mum here and want to buy a bouncy chair but am . Some advice is that vibrating chair is most soothing but Ive also heard it said that they overstimulate baby and is best to let baby rock themselves. What do all of you mumsnetters find best?

But you can always use the vibrating one with it turned off and is the same as an ordinary one

can anyone recommend if any of the swing seats (powered by batteries) are any good? my 5 wk old won't sleep unless she is rocked so wondering if anyone can recommend one? they are not cheap so want to make sure i get it right

twig79, my dcs had the fisher price fold and go swing and it was FAB, ds lived n for the first 3 months!! not very flash, and if you get the portable one, on a night you can collapse it and have a baby free zone and you can lug t with you when you go to visit folk..
