Is it worth buying an all singing, all dancing, rocking, buzzing swing chair or will an ordinary bouncer chair be used more?

Does your baby have a swing? Do they like it? Do they sit in it for more than 10 minutes at a time?

I'm tempted by one but wonder if they're worth it?

Go for the Baby bjorn bouncer!! Don't bother with any other IMO. Had a vibrating rocker with ds (got given it) and I can't wait to chuck that as its rubbish in comparison to the baby bjorn bouncer we bought for dd.

I had a pretty basic vibrating bouncer for my DS. Used the vibrate function loads as he found it really comforting. Recommended this to a friend when pregnant and her baby hated it! Luckily you can get a vibrating one fairly cheaply so not a disaster if they don't like it.

Never tried a swinging one, but do remember hours of back breaking swinging in moses basket / car seat. Good for toning up after giving birth, but I might consider mechanical help with DC2 (and just put up with being flabby!)

I had a basic bouncy chair for about £2.50 from an NCT sale, and then got a Jumperoo when DS was older, again second hand. Check out what's on ebay in your area, look for facebook groups too :)

I've got the graco sweetpeace all singing all dancing swing courtesy of dm, it's fab. It swings forwards/backwards or side to side, seat vibrates, plays womb sounds, has toy bar and hood, although the hood is rubbish I grant you. The seat part clips off so you can carry it round the house to wherever you are. The base part is huge, but I don't mind that so much.
Dd mainly uses it for naps at the moment as she has bad reflux so won't sleep lying flat. I like it as its high off the floor so the dog can't reach her to slobber like she would if she was at floor level in a bouncer. It is £££ to buy but well worth it IMO! I can see her using it for a long while as the seat either reclines or sits more upright, and it has a 5 point harness, and the base is so large there's no way she could tip it over

I'd buy a cheapo one with a thingy that fits over the top that you can hang thing from. Thay way you can add or take thing away.

We got a swing 2nd hand from a local child minder who was no longer going to be looking after babies. DS slept in it which meant I could eat and sit down on my own in the evenings (he was a 4 hour an evening cluster feeder so this was a god send for us).

We also had a vibrating bouncy chair. That just produced dirty nappies, so it had its uses on occasion but wasn't as used as the swing. Plus the swing was higher off the ground so was easier to get baby into and out of.

We have the baby bjorn one-it is fab. It is great as it is bigger so lasts a lot longer as much bigger. Most of my friends had to get rid of their's when their babies were 3 or 4 months however as the baby bjorn is bigger it lasts so much longer. My ds is 8 months old and the same size as an 18 month old however I still use it every day as useful to put him in it while I shower to make sure he stays put! I have put one of those buggy steering wheels on it to keep him entertained.

I bought an all singing all dancing very expensive mamas and papas swing one of my mums friends very kindly bought us a basic bouncer as a gift. 4 months on ds will not tolerate the swing screams blue murder whenever I dare to put him in it bit absolutely loves the bouncer and will happily sit and play with the toys on the detachable bar thing whilst I grab a quick shower/ attempt to tidy up etc! I would advise waiting until baby is born before shelling out loads of money! :)

We have a Fisher Price birth to toddler rocker chair which DS loved and used from birth - 12m as a bouncy chair and then up until 3 as a reading seat :o

Unfortunately 7 week old DD despises sitting still so we bought a Fisher Price take along swing for £10 from our local Facebbok selling page and she loves it!

So id say all babies are different and wait until you have baby and see what they like doing :)
