How long should it take to get a mortgage offer extended?

I'm in the middle of selling a house and will complete at the end of feb. my buyer's buyer has a mortgage offer but it runs out mid jan and they need to get it extended. Anyone know how long this should take? Is it a starightforward process? Thanks

should be just a call to the lender, who will issue new paperwork. shouldn't take more than a couple of days, lender can fax/email the solicitor.

Be aware they may not extend it, our offer ran out on 1st Jan, they would only extend for one month but that's not enough time for completion so we have to start all over again.
