Would you let your kid take caffeine for the SAT?

Saw this post from a former CTY (gifted) kid who claims he took caffeine pills and got a 1590. I'm honestly considering letting my kid do it given that they have ADHD and caffeine helps them focus. I think it's safer than coffee because you can know the exact dose, and it would just be one time for the test (and maybe one time before the test to see how he reacts). Okay, I know it sounds bad, but would you honestly do it if it could help improve your kid's test score by say 200-300 SAT points?

I tend to sprinkle a bit of cocaine on their cocopops for special occasions as they aren't quite as gifted or talented as I'd like, seems to do the trick.

Sorry but as someone with adhd that's bollocks about caffiene helping focus, it actually often has the opposite effect for people with adhd and actually makes them drowsy. If he has adhd he can be medicated for it, if he doesn't then well he will have to take the exams without any enhancement like every other bloody kid. 🙄

My 16 year old son finds that caffeine helps him focus for studying. He has ADD, but is not medicated by choice. He’s 16 though, not a primary school child. Caffeine is a mild stimulant and increases dopamine production in the brain, but of course it can affect everyone differently. There are some studies that suggest that low level caffeine consumption can help some people’s ADHD symptoms, but the evidence is largely anecdotal. My son’s doctor is fine with him having caffeine within recommended limits, and only when he’s studying. I certainly wouldn’t recommend trying it for a 10/11 year old child though.
