I am interested to hear from parents. What is life like of a parent who has a son who on probation year to be a chorister. Also, practicalities - how to apply for a scholarship from Choir association, means tested etc? Thank you.

Did you apply? My son (and us to be honest) had a terrible time settling at a boarding choir school but we are just about to join a school which has an incredible choir but the boys can be day boys. It’s a big commitment for the parents though..

Hi there. My so. Is a chorister at York Minster, and has been for four years. He didn't do the traditional probationer year as he'd earned his spurs in a church choir.

He goes to a day school.

He absolutely loves it. But is extremely musical and always has been.

What do you want to know exactly?
