I've just caught him in the kitchen trying to cut himself a slice of pear

he had taken his brother's plastic piano stool into the kitchen, got a table knife off the draining board, then gone to the fruit bowl and helped himself to a pear, which he was slicing

You can jeer, but even Gordon Ramsay had to start somewhere

No, he is much too advanced to swear out loud, oops, he was swearing in his head, like a proper grown-up

I could see it in his eyes

nope only gifted if he was preparing to poach it.

Greensleeves · 04/03/2007 11:06

You're just jealous

I bet he was thinking to himself

"How can I turn this into some sort of alcoholic punch without Mummy finding out?"

Marscentio · 04/03/2007 11:11

Maybe I'll send DT2 over. He can mix the ingredients for the upside down pear cake. It's not as if he has mixed cake ingredients all over my floor before!

Oh, that's right, try and steal the limelight from my Very Special Child

I knew we would come up against this sort of destructive envy

Yes I hear it gets particularly bad at Christmas....

WelshSleeves · 04/03/2007 12:04

I think all Mumsnetters are now banned from that Pizza Express.

Or so I heard.

SherlockLGJ · 04/03/2007 12:05

Only some of them, in fact make that one of them.

WelshSleeves · 04/03/2007 12:13

Never mind, the waiter had his ass felt, what more did he want?

Lilymaid · 04/03/2007 14:30

DS2 tried to make himself a sandwich at that age:got bread knife out and cut slice of bread. No genius in the making, he has always considered his parents to be slow, useless etc and therefore resorted to diy!

Jimjams2 · 04/03/2007 14:55

ds3 (2) came to me and said "eat eat", I ignored him as he's just had a biscuit and didn't want fruit. 5 mins later he appeared with bread, bread knife and proceeded to try and cut a slice in front of me. Actually he is a PITA as soon as the cooker goes on he drages a chair over, an tries to join in. Never mind that frying mince isn't the sort of thing I'd expect a year old to do.

pffhhtt!

Check out the pic in my profile and weep greeny - DS has been clambering up and stealing from for MONTHS and he's not 2 yet.

He is sooo special, he knows how to turn our television on from standby from a locked key-panel.

AND he can fight his way out of his nappy, pyjamas, and a back to front grobag in 30 seconds flat. He can make it out of a 5 point harness in 15 seconds.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 04/03/2007 15:01

fruit not from...

My DD1, when she was 2, put fish fingers under the grill and turned it on.

I think she must be the chav version of your son, Greeny.
