Secondary school offered my 8 years old a place ,how does it work?

We accepted the offer basically, because there is no another choice.
While we are waiting for more details, could any experienced parents give me some ideas how it could be?

Will they go to the secondary for lessons - undesirable - or will the teacher come to support them in the primary environment?

Yy, just ask how it will work. I think curriculum sharing in this way for a specific subject is great - but you do need to think ahead and ask about sideways extension instead of straightforward early testing iykwim.

Great that they are suggesting it. Primary must be on the ball to have resourced additional KS3 support. Great school. Should happen more often. Too many capable kids being ignored.

I can't answer your question but I would be need to be certain that if class based the children were all of the same age and ability. I would not like my dd with y7 children or older as I think it would be unsuitable. High school dcs are alot more grown up than even a y6 primary.
Will they be escorted to the school, or will they come to you? What if any would your role be? Will they miss any lessons at school and when would they catch up?
I must agree that it is marvellous that the school are considering extra support. I have a friend whose dc was not supported and clearly G&T in maths. I hope it works out for you but if it doesn't there are ways that you can help, they may not be completely free but there are societies and groups you can turn to for advice and support.

Update:
We had a lovely meeting with our Head,a secondary school teacher and a specialist who was monitoring my Dc all the time.
They said they could offer my Dc goes to secondary school or they come to us regularly depends on what we want:Early GCSE,A level or a skill development in the long term.
The decision is easy to make as you all would do.
I am soooooo pleased that we have got this treatment in an ordinary state school! Secondary school teacher also has so much sense in EDUCATION rather than just tackling the test.
