My G&T 10yr old has just won a garden design comp!

My wonderful (at times!) 10 yr old daughter has just won a garden design comp for there southport flower show - I just wanted to say how proud I was of her - although she has been on G&T since Yr 1 her school has never actually encouraged this talent whatsoever so on the back of her winning this comp she has also won £500 for the school as well Im so proud of her the competition was open to all yrs 5 &6 pupils in the north west and there are 2 winners who will have their design transformed into real life and exhibited at the show - Its great for her confidence as she is always getting knocked back by her peers at school (jealousy no doubt) hopefully now her school will take her talent a little more seriously and actually help develop her talents.

DD has been on G&T register at both her schools for her artistic talents unfortunately however being talented at art doesnt really get developed at school (in my humble experience) in fact whenever there is a in house design comp she never wins and I think ( and yes Im her mum so positively biased) but I think they want to encourage other kids to try which is all well and good but that only goes to disocurage my dd from even entering in most cases luckily though her art work in class is always outstanding and I have also encouraged her outside of school by getting lots of art stuff and taking her out to draw its just good to see her being recognised for her artwork by someone totally independent! If anyone else has a talented child at primary school what do they do to encourage their talents?

Thanks to all well wishers - Despite having to come back early from our summer hols (luckily we are in our caravan so flexible) we are looking fwd to seeing her design transformed into a real garden - Ill be the one with a huge great big smile slapped on my chops!!! soo proud of her
