Has he got toys that he is interested in? Perhaps lego/duplo? Toys can be really hit and miss and it is sometimes really hard to tell what might appeal to a child.

Have some friends round from nursery?

I agree with Spidamama.

DS1 was like this. The most excited he got at the age of 3 was cheering at completing a workbook. Hmm

He is now 11 and socialises well, but it's been a long hard road. The day he attended the Y6 leavers disco was MASSIVE for me. Smile

Just encouraging him (but not forcing him!)to do the usual age appropriate activities is the way to go, IMO.

Are there any fun activity classes he might like? Drama, football, art, music?

colditz · 09/12/2010 00:52

Sit on the floor with him and teach him to 'jump' cars over brickss

Are you silly yourself? (serious question btw!)

Mess around, do silly voices, make silly faces, play silly games and have lots of fun yourself. If he laughs and/or joins in, great. If not, just let him be his serious little self! It's not a crime. :)
