I haven't used it myself for this purpose but have heard many many times of people that have, and it's meant to be very good too.

WhamBam · 30/06/2010 13:41

I've used it, it is AWESOME. I get savaged by midges and mozzies and this is the only thing that keeps them at bay - however you have to put it everywhere, any gaps will be nibbled on

vintage · 30/06/2010 14:54

my dh swears by it for midgies they seem to go for him

Lionstar · 30/06/2010 14:55

Rumour has it the SAS use it!

raindroprhyme · 30/06/2010 15:42

it works, you have to reapply every 17 and a half minutes to get best affect, according to SAS.

vivie · 30/06/2010 20:45

thanks all, I'll give it a go. Sounds nicer than DEET! Does it work against horseflies?

(Avon lady here... you want the SSS dry oil spray with the blue label. Te pink one doesn't have citronella in.)

expatinscotland · 30/06/2010 20:54

Tried it. I found it greasy even though it's a dry oil.

And not very effective.

seeker · 30/06/2010 20:58

It's brilliant - but it has to be the blue one - the oterh one doesn't work.

MaureenMLove · 30/06/2010 21:02

Another vote for the blue one. It does work. Even on the hardened midges on the West coast of Scotland!

expatinscotland · 30/06/2010 21:27

I just use Jungle spray.

Some people, when they're bitten by midgies, just get a wee red circle.

I get a welt that itches for weeks and then scars.

And live in the W. Highlands.

SoupDragon · 30/06/2010 21:29

No, didn't work for me.

Feenie · 30/06/2010 21:38

Works like a dream for me (I get bitten so often that dh calls me his best insect repellent). Brings my mother out in a red rash though.

Apparently used by contestants in I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in the jungle!

McSteamy · 30/06/2010 21:39

Yes it does - or at least it did for me while I lived in Cyprus!

JaxTellersOldLady · 30/06/2010 21:43

it worked for me! the blue one works, the other doesnt.

MmeLindt · 04/07/2010 11:56

Hah! My mother swears by this but has given me the pink one. Can I tell her that it must be a placebo effect?

Must go and see if I can order some, my DS is covered in midge bites at the moment.

Do you know if Avon send abroad?

mono3 · 04/07/2010 12:11

We used to live in Australia and usedit all the time for the mozzies much better than anything else we tried and nicer smelling too.

muggglewump · 04/07/2010 12:14

I live in midgie central (west Scotland) and don't rate it, I use Jungle Formula.

Nyx · 04/07/2010 12:26

It works when you're among the gazillions of midgies in the outer hebrides. I had to spray it all over (even on my scalp) when going out to take my mother's washing in, when I was on holiday. It worked a treat, I couldn't believe it.

stretchedtothelimit · 04/07/2010 12:45

MmeLindt, we have Avon agents here in the UAE!! I use the green one and haven't been bitten

MmeLindt · 04/07/2010 14:10

Is it the body spray then? Looking on eBay right now. Seems there are no Avon ladies in Switzerland.

stretchedtothelimit · 04/07/2010 15:44

Hi MmeLindt, sorry went out for a while,
am looking at the bottle now, it is Skin So Soft, Fusions, Dual Softening Body Oil, 125ml

HTH

MmeLindt · 04/07/2010 16:42

Thanks, have ordered it from eBay.
